How to Play BeatBox

BeatBox is a social guessing game where players try to identify who submitted each song based on the music and their knowledge of other players' tastes.

Song Submission
  • Submit songs that reflect your personality
  • Or use deception and submit songs that match someone else's
  • Links are added to the pool for future rounds
Guessing Phase
  • Listen to the song during the guessing period
  • Make your best guess about who submitted it
  • You can't guess yourself (that would be too easy!)
Player Roles
Moderators
  • Start new game rounds when enough players are available
  • Have the ability to show the embeded video
  • Can shuffle to new songs before the round begins
  • End rounds and determine winners
  • Reset rounds if needed
  • Archive leaderboards and reset player stats
Players
  • Submit songs to the pool to be used in rounds
  • Listen to songs during active rounds
  • Make educated guesses about song submitters
  • Compete for wins and leaderboard positions
  • Upload and change avatars
  • Become the Goat
How to Win
Correct Guesses
  • Be the first to guess the actual submitter correctly
  • Earn points toward your win percentage
  • Improve your guessing accuracy
Incorrect Guesses
  • Don't lose points, but don't gain any
  • Still count toward your total guesses
  • Learn from mistakes for future rounds
Note: The first player to correctly guess who submitted the song wins the round!
Game Mechanics
Round Start
  • Moderators start rounds when ready
  • A random song is selected from the pool
  • Guessing period begins immediately
  • All players can start making guesses
Round End
  • Moderators end rounds when ready
  • Winners are determined automatically
  • Results are displayed to all players
  • Leaderboards are updated
Resets & Shuffles
Song Shuffles
  • Available before any guesses are made
  • Changes to a different song from the pool
  • Clears all existing guesses
  • Resets the guessing timer
Round Resets
  • Reset if something went wrong
  • Song remains available for future rounds
  • Completely clears the current round
  • No winner is declared
Important: Shuffles and resets should be used thoughtfully to maintain game flow and fairness.
